Rahul with Master Jack, a sweet and gentle soul.
Turning Eighteen
My son Rahul, the subject of this blog, is quirky and innocent. His life has been hard in many ways, primarily because he is not neurotypical. He has an autism diagnosis, an anxiety diagnosis, maybe even an ADHD diagnosis.
He has a phenomenal memory for specific things like birth dates or what happened on June 10th 2003. He can spend hours poring over sunrise and sunset times in various places. The changing patterns of the sun's journey through the sky and the gradual emergence of darkness or light never fail to thrill him. He absolutely loves people. Sometimes, because of his anxiety and nervousness, he says things that sound inappropriate or mean. But at heart he really is a very sweet person.
Rahul is on the brink of adulthood. Soon he will graduate from high school. We are looking forward to the future (more unknown for him than for most) with trepidation and hope.
